Support Engineering Limited was founded in 1999 by Julian Dayment to provide consultancy and training services for the management and analytical activities associated with Integrated Logistic Support (ILS), Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) and Support Engineering. Julian has extensive experience in the practical application of these disciplines. This experience was gained over a 25 year period whilst working for Rolls Royce, Logistic Support Consultants (LSC) and BMT Reliability Consultants. Over this time Julian worked as a support engineer, consultant, instructor, project manager, marketing manager and managing director (LSC Scandinavia) for Customer such as Airbus, British Aerospace, GEC Marconi, IBM, SAAB, Racal, Ultra Electronics, Marconi, MBDA, UK MoD, Swedish MoD, Norwegian Air Force, Australian Army and the Finnish MoD working on projects such as, A400M, Gripen, F18, C130, Attack Helicopter, Eurocopter, Typhoon, Hawk, Harrier, Future Carrier, Leopard II, Challenger II, AS90 and Bowman.
Since the establishment of Support Engineering Limited BAE Systems has been a key client for its range of services. The Company has provided consultancy and training services to a range of BAE Systems projects including; Tornado, Hawk, VC10, Nimrod, Type 45 Destroyer, Future Carrier, Astute, AS90, Terrier, Sea Wolf and a number of training solution programmes. In addition the Company has worked with BAE Systems on the development of Support Engineering Guidance documentation within its Life Cycle Management framework. This includes the development of an Integrated Support Business Model, a business process model, which is now an integral tool used within the Company for the capture and sharing of best practice.
The Company has also worked with a number of specific projects on the development of the business approach for availability and performance based contracts. This includes the Tornado ATTAC, Nimrod NISC, VC10 JAVELIN and Typhoon Partnered Support projects.
A key Company service is the provision of business process modelling consultancy. The Company has helped many projects at the bid stage with the development of business process models that capture a representation of the ‘to be’ solution. Current work in this area includes a number of BAE Systems Insyte ‘availability’ projects. Process models are developed using the IFS Business Modeller software and the Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN) standard.
Between 2006 and 2008 the Company helped with the development and presentation of an internal BAE Systems course, Enabling Through-Life Capability, which addresses the design and operation of availability contracts.
Currently the Company is working with the BAE Systems Business & Solution Modelling (B&SM) Capability helping with the development and presentation of awareness and practitioner training courses.
In addition to the work with BAE Systems the Company has worked with other clients such as; Swedish FMV, IFS Defence, UGS, MBDA, Aerosystems International and BAE Systems Insyte.
Julian Dayment continues to work as a consultant and, as appropriate, uses a network of experienced associates to contribute to the performance of projects. |
